THEME: TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCEMENT IN THE PRIVATE SECURITY INDUSTRY IN KENYA
The first edition of the Security Innovations Challenge starts from 4th January, 2021 to 5th March, 2021.
SECURITY INNOVATIONS CHALLENGE
The challenge seeks to identify and fund technological innovative solutions to challenges that exist in the private security sector. A participant's invention or innovative technological concept must address and solve a private security challenge in Kenya. Inventors and innovators shall be able to road test their ideas, meet potential investors, co-founders and collaborators and provide a platform from which to launch a business or identify a new career path in the private security industry.
ABOUT THE CHALLENGE
Eligible participants include individuals, institutions, security firms, nonprofit organizations, for-profit entities, universities and colleges and government agencies. Please refer to the Rules for a complete set of eligibility requirements.

Eligible Individuals and organizations may submit a proposal for more than one solution area, and will need to create an account and register using a different username/email for each submission in order to submit up to four (4) applications. Only one application for each solution area from the same entity is allowed. Submitting more than one application for a single solution area may render your application ineligible. You may not submit for more than one solution area in one application
We are seeking bold security technology solutions that redefine private security and exemplify technology-centered design, impact, scalability, and integration into other security infrastructure.

Winning entries will incorporate technology-centered security solutions design and our standard information security requirements, as well as the technical requirements outlined for technology centered security solutions.
During Administrative Review, the Security Technology Innovation Challenge team will confirm each submission meets the rules and application requirements before advancing to the Evaluation Panel.
Each valid application will receive scores and comments from at least five Evaluation Panel judges specializing in their respective solution areas using four scoring criteria (all scores are normalized). The judges will review the top-scoring submissions to select finalists based on considerations that may include, but are not limited to, Evaluation Panel resulting rank order, capacity, and feasibility.
Once selected, finalists will present more information on their proposed solutions to the Selection Committee at a live pitch event in Nairobi. The Selection Committee is comprised of security professionals in Kenya and they will make a final determination as to the Winners of the Security Technology Innovation Challenge.
